Implied Odds in Texas Holdem poker

Posted on December 8th, 2006 in General Texas Holdem Poker Strategy by blogger

Money you can expect to win that’s not in the pot.

For example: You have Pocket 77. After the flop and turn, you do not catch a 7 to make a Three of a Kind. The odds of the 7 coming on the river is 22:1. There is $18.00 in the pot with 4 weak players left. Someone bets $1.00 on the turn. This gives you 18 times pot odds, and you should fold according to pot odds. BUT you feel that if you catch a 7 and bet $2, the four weak players will likely call. This is $8 of Implied Odds. So your pot odds + Implied Odds = $18 + $8 = $26. Therefore you should call the $1 bet.
